I decided to incorporate Sardines into my dogs’ diet because my goal is to provide with the most natural ingredients and stay away from supplements as much as possible.
- Sardines are high in calcium (about 300mg per 3 oz serving) and a great source of protein.
- They contain ubiquinol with is a bioactive coenzyme Q10. This will bind to the enzyme and act as an antioxidant to help the body reduce toxis and bad damaged cells.
- Sardines contain Taurine, Copper, Vitamin D, Selenium, and Zinc.
- It is high in Omega 3 fatty acids which help reduce inflammation.
- I have an old mastiff who is strarting show pain in his lower back and an allergic dog. Omega 3s will help with both their arhtritis and skin allergies.
- Make sure you only get the sardines in water with NO SALT.
- Dosage recommended:
- Large dog= One sardine (Mondays- Wednesdays-Fridays)
- Medium dog= Half sardine (Mondays- Wednesdays-Fridays)
- Small dog and cats= 1/3 sardine (Mondays- Wednesdays-Fridays)
- Since I am such a busy person (both mom and practice owner), it is hard for me to go shopping sometimes. Most grocery stores have sardines in oil with salt. This is the brand I buy and is delivered to my door.
